How do I create an account on GeniePal?

You create an account by tapping on the “Words” button on the Chat list or New Chat view, and then tapping on Sign In With Apple.

How do I connect to OpenAI’s ChatGPT through GeniePal?

There are two different ways to access the app’s connection to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, either using the existing connection provided by the app upon installation, adding words to your account as tokens, or using your own API key.

Can I start conversations on any topic with the assistant?

GeniePal allows you to start conversations on a wide range of topics with the AI assistant, whether they are generic or specific. However, we are committed to promoting a positive and respectful user experience. As such, we do not tolerate hate speech, misuse, or any form of offensive or harmful content. Users are expected to adhere to our Terms of Service and refrain from engaging in conversations that promote discrimination, harassment, violence, or any illegal activities. Any violation of these guidelines may result in the suspension or termination of your access to the App. Please use GeniePal responsibly and help us maintain a welcoming and safe environment for all users.

What are the “environments” in GeniePal, and how do I set them up?

Environments in GeniePal are designed to help you define a specific subject or context when engaging with the AI assistant. By setting up an environment, you can guide the conversation towards your desired topic or area of interest, allowing for a more focused and relevant discussion.

To set up an environment in GeniePal, follow these steps:

  1. Open the GeniePal app and navigate to the ‘Environments’ section.
  2. Tap on the ‘+’ icon to create a new environment.
  3. Provide a name for the environment that represents the subject or context you want to focus on (e.g., “Science Fiction” or “Travel Tips”).
  4. Add a brief description and/or prompts related to the subject to help the AI assistant better understand the context of the environment.
  5. Decide on whether to share your personal information within this environment.
  6. Save the environment by tapping on the ‘Save’ button.

Once you have set up an environment, you can select it before starting a conversation with the AI assistant. This will help tailor the assistant’s responses to the specific subject or context you have defined, ensuring a more productive and engaging conversation.

How do I save chat messages via Snippets, and how can I edit and export them?

To save a snippet, you can long-press the assistant’s reply during a chat session and select “Save Snippet.” If you want to introduce changes to a saved snippet, go to the “Snippets” section, select the snippet you would like to edit, and choose “Edit” from the top bar. To share the content of the snippet, tap on the share button located in the same area.

What is the curated list of prompts, and how often is it updated?

The curated list of prompts in GeniePal is a collection of conversation starters and thought-provoking questions designed to inspire engaging and meaningful interactions with the AI assistant. These prompts cover a wide range of topics and areas of interest, allowing you to explore new ideas, gain insights, or simply enjoy a stimulating conversation.

Our team carefully selects and updates the curated list of prompts on a weekly basis. This ensures that you always have fresh and diverse conversation ideas at your fingertips, providing a continuously evolving and dynamic experience with the GeniePal app.

To access the curated list of prompts, open the GeniePal app and navigate to the ‘Library’ section. You can then browse through the list and select any prompt that interests you to start a conversation with the AI assistant. These prompts can be transformed into Environments by tapping on the button in the top-right corner of the Prompts list view.

How do I manage my words usage and buy more words?

To check the usage amount of your words, tap on the “Words” icon, either on the chat sessions list or during a session. If you need to purchase more words, you can do so by tapping on the “Buy More Words” button, which becomes available when you tap on the “Words” icon. You will then be presented with several options to choose from. After making your selection, tap “Buy Now” and confirm your payment to complete the purchase.

What is the lifetime in-app purchase, and how can I use my own API key?

The lifetime in-app purchase in GeniePal is an exclusive option that allows users to unlock the full potential of the app by connecting it to their own OpenAI API key. By choosing the lifetime in-app purchase, you can enjoy unrestricted access to GeniePal’s features and capabilities, including seamless integration with your existing OpenAI account and usage quota.

To use your own API key with the lifetime in-app purchase, follow these steps:

  1. Complete the lifetime in-app purchase process within the GeniePal app under Settings → Use My Own Key.
  2. After the purchase is successful, you may enter your own key and hit the check button.
  3. If the green turns green, the Key was accepted. Otherwise, it will turn red.
  4. If the status is red, please confirm you have used the correct API key.
  5. Your GeniePal app is now connected to your OpenAI account, and you can enjoy the full range of features and benefits associated with the lifetime in-app purchase.
